Fast to make, hot, creamy and delicious.
Grilled cream cheese and ham sandwich
- 8 slices whole wheat bread
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 4 ounces chopped ham
Night before:
Spread half the bread with cream cheese (use more if you want) Sprinkle with the chopped ham. Cover with the other bread slices, and press together. Refrigerate in a plastic bag.
Next morning:
Heat the griddle or a non-stick frying pan for 5 minutes or so over medium heat. Butter the cream cheese side of the sandwich with softened butter, and place the sandwich butter side down on the griddle. Lightly butter the top side. Turn when lightly browned and brown the other side.
Slice and serve.
NOTES:
- Add a bit of grated cheese, or scallions, or sun dried tomatoes or anything you fancy to the sandwich.
- Substitute salami or smoked turkey for the ham for a different taste.
