I am currently in Turkey, staying with Rotarians that live here, and have been delighted with the breakfasts they have. It is tasty, ever varying, healthful, and the perfect breakfast in a hurry.
Mandatory:
- Sliced French bread, whole wheat bread, or rolls. Room temperature or toasted.
- Cheese. Any kind, at least 2. String cheese is popular, along with feta, blue cheese, some Monterey Jack-like cheese, cream cheese, other cheeses in small chunks
- Peeled cucumber and fresh tomatoes
- Olives (at least 2 varieties)
- Olive oil, plain or spiced
- Butter
- Jam
- Plain yogurt, preferably Greek-style
- More olives
- Honey
- Walnuts
- Caviar
- Dates
- Dried plums
- Fried sliced sausage
- Boiled egg
Night before:
Prep and put in small dishes, refrigerate.
Next morning:
Put on the table, enjoy.
NOTES:
- When breakfast is done, cover with foil any dishes with enough left to serve again. Next day’s breakfast already half made….
