Cheese Buttermilk Bread

Bread fresh out of the bread maker when you wake up in the morning, with a wonderful cheesy flavor and packed with protein

Follow this link for the recipe:
Cheese Buttermilk Bread
• 1 cup water
• 1 T sugar
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 ¾ cups flour
• 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
• 1 2T buttermilk powder
• 2 tsp dry yeast

Night before:
Add the ingredients to the bread machine in the order listed. When you add the cheese, toss it a bit with the top layer of the flour, in order to keep it from sticking together as it mixes. Set the timer to have the bread ready when you wake up.

Next morning:
Take the bread out of the machine and out of the container. Slice. Serve with butter or cottage cheese.

NOTES:
The contraption pictured is made specifically for slicing bread machine bread. It came with an electric knife with wicked teeth, but makes it so much easier to slice the bread evenly without squishing the loaf. Otherwise, slice with a good bread knife.

Look for buttermilk powder in your grocery store near the powdered and condensed milk I like the buttermilk powder because it poses no danger for using a timer. You can substitute a cup of buttermilk for the water and powder.

You can toast the bread as well; I like it best soft and just out of the machine. Toast the rest on subsequent days.

Variation: try other cheeses, or add dill, or add chives. Or bacon bits.
