Strawberry Shortcake


Early summer, celebrating strawberries

Strawberry Shortcake

• 1 pint strawberries
• 2 cups Bisquick
• 2/3 cups whole milk (or even cream if you want to be decadent)
• ¼ cup plus 1 T sugar (divided use)
• 1 tsp vanilla
• whipped cream if you wish

Night before:
Slice strawberries and sprinkle with 1T sugar. Put Bisquick and remaining sugar in one bowl, milk and vanilla in another and refrigerate.
Set the over to preheat to 425 degrees
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper

Next morning:
Mix the wet and dry ingredients, and stir until fully mixed. Spoon onto the parchment paper, making 8 shortcakes. Bake for 10 – 12 minutes, or until golden brown, while you shower.
Remove and cool for a few minutes, then split, and put strawberries between the layers and on top, then top with whipped cream if you wish.

NOTES:
Serve as soon as possible..
