Buttermilk Oatmeal Bread

Hearty, really tasty.  You can put this one in the bread machine the night before, set the time, and enjoy delicious warm bread in the morning.

Follow this link to the recipe:
Buttermilk Oatmeal Bread

  •  1 cup water
  •  ¼ cup butter
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  •  2T sugar
  • 1 ½ cup bread flour
  •  ½ cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup buttermilk powder
  • 1 cup oats
  • 1 ½ tsp yeast

Night before:
Put into the bread machine container in the order listed; liquids go on the bottom, and yeast goes in last.  Set the timer, so that bread finishes about 30 minutes before breakfast.

Next morning:
Slice, slather with butter, or cover with cottage cheese or cheddar cheese, and enjoy!

NOTES:
·         See the white specks in the bread?  Well, I got to the point that I was going to add the oats, and discovered I had neither rolled oats or quick oats.  So I used steel cut oats.  Added a little crunch to the bread, but still delicious.   Experiment is another word for “what the heck do I do now?”  Usually it works.  Be daring!  Usually not something you hear associated with oatmeal.
